Every year, I meet parents who have spent weeks shortlisting IIT JEE coaching institutes in Hyderabad, and almost every conversation comes around to the same question: “What is the difference between Nine Education and FIITJEE?” It is a fair question — both are IIT JEE coaching options in Hyderabad, both claim strong results, and both charge significant fees. I am going to answer that question honestly in this article, drawing on 14 years of running a coaching institute and what I observe about how different models affect student outcomes.
I should acknowledge upfront: I am the CEO of Nine Education, so I have a perspective. What I can promise is that I will focus on the real differences that actually matter for your child’s JEE preparation, and I will tell you when FIITJEE might be a better fit for certain students. The goal is to help you make the right decision for your child, not to make a sales pitch.
Background: Two Different Models of JEE Coaching
FIITJEE was founded in 1992 in Delhi and is one of India’s oldest and most recognised JEE coaching brands. Over three decades, it has built a national presence across dozens of cities. Its model is built on a large, centralised curriculum, national-level benchmarking, and a reputation built primarily on results from its Delhi and other metro centres.
Nine Education was founded in 2012 in Hyderabad by three IIT Kharagpur alumni. Our model is the opposite of a national chain: we are hyper-local to Hyderabad, we have deliberately limited our growth to maintain quality, and every single faculty member — without exception — is an IIT graduate. We now have 15 branches across the city, but every branch operates on the same small-batch, all-IITian model.
These are not just marketing differences. They have concrete effects on what your child experiences day to day.
Faculty: The Most Important Factor in JEE Coaching
If there is one thing I have learned from running Nine Education for over a decade, it is this: the single biggest driver of JEE success is the quality of the person standing at the front of the classroom. Not the study material. Not the technology. Not the building. The teacher.
At Nine Education, we have a strict policy: every faculty member teaching MPC students must be an IIT graduate. Not “IIT-trained,” not “IIT-inspired” — an actual IIT degree holder who has sat through the same JEE that your child is preparing for and emerged successful. Our faculty has IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, and IIT Hyderabad graduates teaching across our 15 branches.
This matters because JEE problems — particularly JEE Advanced — require a depth of conceptual understanding that only comes from having genuinely solved such problems yourself. An IIT graduate teaching Physics or Mathematics brings a clarity of thought and problem-solving intuition that is difficult to replicate through training alone.
FIITJEE recruits from a broader pool. As a national chain, it has to staff hundreds of classrooms across dozens of cities, which means the IIT-graduate percentage on faculty varies considerably between branches and cities. Some FIITJEE centres have very strong faculty. Others do not. When you choose FIITJEE Hyderabad, you may or may not get the same faculty quality that makes the brand’s top centres successful.
At Nine Education, there is no such variability. Every student, at every branch, is taught by an IIT alumnus. That is a guarantee we can make and stand behind.
Batch Size and Individual Attention
Nine Education has a firm policy: no batch exceeds 40 students. This is not a marketing number — it is a structural constraint we have maintained across all 15 branches for over a decade.
Why 40? Because at 40 students, a teacher can still know every student’s name, track who understands a concept and who does not, and give meaningful individual feedback during class. At 80, 100, or 120 students — the batch sizes common at larger national coaching chains — a teacher becomes a lecturer. The classroom becomes passive. A student who is confused sits quietly because there is no opportunity to ask, and no one notices.
In large-batch coaching, students who are already strong tend to do well. They would often do well anywhere. The students who need to catch up on a concept, who have a specific doubt, who learn at a slightly different pace — they fall behind, and no one catches them in time.
The JEE is fundamentally a test of depth, not coverage. A student who genuinely understands 80% of the syllabus will outperform a student who has “covered” 100% with surface-level understanding. Small batches make depth possible.
FIITJEE’s batch sizes vary by centre and programme. Some programmes are smaller. But the default in a large national chain is larger classrooms, because that is the only way the economics work at scale. This is a structural reality, not a criticism — it is simply worth knowing before you decide.
Geographic Focus: Hyderabad-Specific vs National Benchmark
FIITJEE’s national model means that its curriculum and benchmarking are designed for the national JEE landscape. This is excellent for students who want exposure to where they stand against students across India — and FIITJEE’s national test series are genuinely useful for that purpose.
Nine Education is built entirely around Hyderabad students. We understand the Telangana and AP schooling system — the pace, the gaps, the boards. We know which topics Telangana State Board students typically cover later than CBSE students, and we structure our curriculum accordingly. Our MPC programme integrates JEE Main, JEE Advanced, EAMCET, and BITSAT preparation so that a student is not choosing between them — they are covered simultaneously, which is the reality for most MPC students in Hyderabad.
This local knowledge affects teaching at a granular level. When I started Nine Education in 2012, one of the first things we noticed was that students from Telangana medium schools needed a different sequencing in Mathematics than what national coaching chains assumed. We built our curriculum around that reality. Fourteen years later, it is deeply embedded in how we teach.

Programme Design: MPC and BiPC
Nine Education offers two streams: MPC (preparing students for IIT JEE Main, JEE Advanced, EAMCET, and BITSAT) and BiPC (preparing students for NEET UG). For students at our Narsingi branch, we also offer an MPC + SAT programme for students targeting US university admissions alongside JEE.
FIITJEE focuses primarily on IIT JEE (Main and Advanced) and related engineering entrance exams. Their NEET offering, where it exists, tends to be secondary to their engineering focus.
For BiPC students preparing for NEET, Nine Education has a focused, dedicated programme. If your child is set on NEET and wants a coaching institute where NEET preparation is a primary focus rather than an add-on, that is a relevant consideration in your decision.
For MPC students, both are valid options. The question is whether the teaching model — faculty quality, batch size, local calibration — matters more to you than brand recognition.
Results: What You Can Actually Verify
Every coaching institute in India claims excellent results. This is one area where I would encourage you to be a rigorous consumer, regardless of which institute you are evaluating — including Nine Education.
Questions worth asking any coaching institute:
- How many students appeared for JEE Main from this batch?
- Of those, how many qualified for JEE Advanced?
- How many received AIR rankings, and in which ranges?
- Can I speak to a parent of a current student or a recent alumnus?
FIITJEE publishes national results aggregated across all its centres. Nine Education’s results are Hyderabad-specific. Fee Structure
IIT JEE coaching is a significant investment for any family. Both FIITJEE and Nine Education charge fees in the range typical for quality JEE coaching in Hyderabad, though specific fee structures vary by programme and year.
A few things worth understanding:

Branch Presence in Hyderabad
Nine Education has 15 branches across Hyderabad — Kukatpally, Neredmet, Suchitra, Narsingi, Attapur, Dwarakanagar, Siddipet, Nallagandla, Boduppal, SR Nagar, Vidyanagar, Kothapet, Bibinagar, Bahadurguda, and additional locations. For most families in Hyderabad, there is a Nine Education branch within a manageable commute.
FIITJEE’s Hyderabad presence is more limited in terms of the number of locations. For families in areas well-served by FIITJEE’s centres, this is not an issue. For families in areas where Nine Education has a local branch but FIITJEE does not, daily commute time becomes a factor worth weighing — two years of long commutes adds up, both in time and in student fatigue.
Who Should Choose What
I would recommend Nine Education for families who:
- Want certainty that their child will be taught by an IIT graduate throughout their preparation
- Value small-batch learning (40 students maximum) and want their child to be known by name to every teacher
- Are in Hyderabad and want coaching calibrated to the Telangana/AP schooling system
- Have a BiPC student preparing seriously for NEET and want a dedicated NEET programme
- Live in an area of Hyderabad where Nine Education has a local branch
FIITJEE may be the right choice if:
- Your child actively wants the national ranking and benchmark exposure that FIITJEE’s test series provide
- You are based in an area of Hyderabad where FIITJEE’s centre is significantly closer
- Your child has specifically been recommended FIITJEE by a trusted alumnus who attended that specific Hyderabad centre
Both are legitimate JEE coaching options. The right one depends on what your child needs — and that is a question that deserves a careful answer, not a reflexive brand preference.
A Note on Making This Decision Well
One piece of advice I give to every parent who visits Nine Education: do not make this decision based on brochures or websites alone, including ours. Come and see the classroom. Talk to the faculty who will actually teach your child. Ask to sit in on a demo class. Ask the institute how they track whether a student is falling behind, and what they do when that happens.
The JEE is a two-year marathon. The coaching institute your child attends will shape those two years profoundly. It deserves a decision made with full information.
